Grasmere House views are the best in Britain!
Welcome to the Grasmere House Riverside Hotel.
Situated on the banks of the Rivers Avon and Nadder at Salisbury, Wiltshire, the Hotel, which has 36 en-suite bedrooms, four in the original house and 32 in a new wing, is a favourite venue for wedding parties, conferences and those wishing to spend time taking in the delights of Salisbury and surrounding Wiltshire countryside.

It's Official - Grasmere House views are the best in Britain!
The vista from the Grasmere House Hotel overlooking the River Avon and water meadows across to Salisbury Cathedral has been voted The Best View in Britain by readers of 'Country Life' magazine.

The stunning view - immortalised by John Constable back in 1831 - has changed very little over the period and can be cherished from most rooms within the Grasmere House Hotel.

Conservatory Restaurant also known as "The Bistro on the River" with its spectacular views over Grasmere's gardens down to the rivers Nadder & Avon across the water meadows to Salisbury Cathedral.

The restaurant, with seating for 45 diners, has a menu which features freshly baked bread and a variety of dishes using local produce and is ever changing according to the seasons. Daily and Market Day specials feature along with themed evenings that are popular with hotel residents and regular guests from the locality.

Today's cuisine reflects traditional English food with modern eclectic influences from around the globe: featuring European, Middle Eastern, Asian, Pacific Rim, and that of the Americas with the stamp of the individuality of our Head Chef.

Among our Seasonal Favorites:

Rack of English Lamb baked with locally farmed honey and mustard served on minted couscous and our own fresh rosemary and redcurrant jus.
Breast of corn fed chicken wrapped in spinach and pancetta layered on lightly Thai spiced vegetables served with lime leaves and a creamy coconut milk sauce.

Avocado, sun blushed tomato and Roquefort crostini on a rocket and mizuna salad with a sweet red pepper dressing.
Fillet of Red Mullet with a black olive and herb crust on a fricasse of mussels with fresh sorrel and a dash of Pernod.

Breast of Wood Pigeon filled with a rabbit and pistachio mousse, served on a Lavender scented root vegetables and a Madeira Jus lie.
Shank of Lamb marinated and pot roasted in red wine with root vegetables fresh herbs and Basalmic vinegar served on a wholegrain mash.

Saddle of Rabbit with a baby leek and herb crust baked with field mushrooms and shallots and smoked bacon served in its own juices.
Cassoulet of Game with pheasant and venison braised with winter vegetables and served with our own special recipe cassoulet sausage.

The Sarisberie is adjacent to the restaurant overlooking the water meadows and Salisbury Cathedral.
